Bridal fashion shoot- Love Lulu Mae+Beaver Buttons (part 1)

What an amazing team we had last weekend! We braved the cold weather and rain to take some superb photos of Agnes’s creations. She combined her Love Lulu Mae style with the Chicago-based Busy Beaver Buttons, creating brand new accessories perfectly suited for a wedding. Our wonderful models showed off bouquets, veils, belts, and boutonnieres. The results are awesome! This is part one of a two part shoot (the second to follow).

Dressing up with Sarah Church

Dressing up with Sarah Church

I love vintage clothing, but when I met Sarah I realized her collection far surpasses me and my friends combined! She is also a mega-talented clothing designer, creating edgy pieces perfect for a rocker, or re-vamped vintage (literally ripped apart and sewn back into a brand new design). I love them all! She is preparing to launch her new line of clothes, complete with new website, so we got together with 3 lovely ladies, an amazing hair and makeup team, and took some photos. The results are hot!

Marriage Mondays- Girl Power!

Marriage Mondays- Girl Power!

Ok, I know this post is late, Monday having already come and gone. After days of gathering info for taxes and a whirlwind weekend I finally have some time to share. I have been reminded on an almost daily basis of the amazing talents possessed by the women I surround myself with. Not only do I love the drive and the commitment to creativity in so many of my girlfriends, I also love the opportunity to collaborate with them. Just two generations ago women were very limited in their pursuits, but now we can have it all! It’s a joy to see these lovely ladies perfect their craft and start successful businesses, and still leave time to play and enjoy our friendship. This weekend we did just that, combining business with play, flaunting our femininity with a fabulous pin-up party. Chocolates from Vosges and cupcakes from Sweet Vee’s Laboratory were a delicious addition to the Dottie’s Delights party, the participants rocked out their photo sessions in the lingerie accessorized by Love Lulu Mae. I was thoroughly impressed by the excitement and playful spirit of the girls, and the Dottie’s Delights lingerie couldn’t have looked better. I wanted to post a small teaser, just a couple of discreet photos from the event. Girl power! (Hair by Mario Tricoci and makeup provided by Benefit)

Fantastic Fur

Fantastic Fur

When my friend Laura moved to Beaver Island, MI a few months ago, I was really excited for her. How many of us have dreamed of living remotely, eating vegetables grown in our own garden, fresh eggs from our very own hens, and coming home to a log cabin and curling up in front of a fire? The list of pros outweighs the cons when living a self sufficient lifestyle, and these days we can feel less removed with the internet keeping us all connected. Although I am not running away from the city just yet to embrace my inner Jeremiah Johnson, she and her boyfriend (a rekindled romance from many years ago) are staying busy with several projects including their fur business. Beaver island has a fairly large population of beaver and coyote, and Mark traps both to regulate the population (if the population is low, he doesn’t trap) and to create beautiful fur hats and accessories. He is very good about using everything he can, very much living off the land. I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph their products. Not only are the results “va-va-voom!” but I think the photos will give their business a wonderful facelift, worthy of a spread in Vogue magazine (I can totally see Kate Moss rockin’ out one of these fantastic fox hats). We had a great time with this fashion shoot, Alice Hanson and Christin Boulette Dorton were gorgeous models, and Carley Martin did her usual amazing job on hair and makeup. (Thanks to Steve Green for lending us his loft apartment for the photo shoot) I wish Laura and Mark the best of luck as they expand their business, and I can’t wait to see how these photos look on their new website. Here are some of my favorite beautys:

I *Heart* Lulu Mae

I *Heart* Lulu Mae

To all the ladies out there, the 2010 Fall lineup for Love, Lulu Mae is in! We just photographed some of the new pieces, and wow! They are gorgeous. I love all the new art-cessories, I really love photographing them, and certainly love wearing them. For this photo shoot we welcomed a brand new model to the Lulu Mae team, the lovely Jessica Zweig. She is the amazingly awesome co-founder of Cheeky Chicago, and big fan of Love, Lulu Mae (aren’t we all?). She, and the always fabulous Dina DiCostanzo, showed off the new pieces (all the brainchild of Agnes Miles). With the onset of warmer days, let’s all accessorize and tear up the town. We love you Lulu Mae!

Love, Lulu Mae- New Bridal Collection

Love, Lulu Mae- New Bridal Collection

Bridal Couture Collection- “Art-cessories for the modern woman with a vintage soul.” What a fun fashion shoot! The girls and I had a great time snapping shots of the new pieces for the Lulu Mae bridal collection, all hand crafted by the lovely Agnes Miles. I have been a big fan since she created her first piece for her own wedding 3 years ago, and now her company is really taking off! I think the new year will bring great things for Love, Lulu Mae. Here are a few of my favorites, enjoy!
