Jaina & Costa are engaged!

Jaina & Costa are engaged!

Not only did this couple travel from Boston for their engagement session (although I can’t take the credit because they were in Chicago visiting family) but they were willing to brave the cold winds of Chicago to take some photos! We had our first meeting on Skype, so this was a wonderful afternoon spent getting to know each other in person. We tackled low temperatures in Millenium park for a while, then headed to Union Station to enjoy some warmer indoor shooting. They are perfectly comfortable together, relaxed and so sweet. I loved getting a glimpse into their relationship, and am very excited to photograph their wedding in Chicago next year. Thank you Jaina and Costa for being great models, beautiful and totally in love!

Jeremy Lawson inspired this photo at the Art Institute.

We found a heart carved into the bench, perfect for a ring shot.

I think this is my favorite.

Thanks again Jaina and Costa, you’re awesome!

Wedding bells at Architectural Artifacts- Nancy+Erik

Wedding bells at Architectural Artifacts- Nancy+Erik

What a great wedding… one of my favorite venues (Architectural Artifacts), and an awesome couple! Nancy and Erik are a great fit, not only do they bring tears to each others eyes when discussing their relationship (and you should have seen the beautiful tearful reactions when they saw each other for the first time at the ceremony), but they goof around and laugh like high school sweethearts. I love their style, and appreciated all of the wonderful details of their wedding day. They are a fabulous duo, with a common sense of humor, and their friends and family were all there offering lots of love throughout the day. They have a great future ahead of them, and I feel lucky to have been there to document so many special moments on their wedding day. Much thanks to Jeremy Bircher for being a fabulous second shooter, and to Nancy and Erik for being the groovy couple that they are.

The girls got ready at the adorable Mops Beauty Shop.

Blue steel!

There was no shortage of cool places to hang the dress at Architectural Artifacts.

The bridesmaids got a great laugh out of Nancy as they sang “like a virgin” by Madonna.

We couldn’t resist playing with these hand forms from an old glove factory.

Jeremy was hanging out with the guys on the first floor while the girls were getting ready on the second floor.

Great poster!

Beautiful votive candles hung from trees around the ceremony area.

Jeremy found some great props for creative ring shots while I photographed the couple.

Nancy models with the mannequins.

The king and queen.

We had fun playing with some of the giant letters in one of the side rooms, this might be my favorite.

Jeremy’s angle:

Not only did they have a great personalized bottle of Goose Island Root Beer as a party favor for the guests, but they had more Goose Island beers and sodas available than I knew existed.

Nancy’s mom gives a great speech.

The bride gets sandwiched on the dance floor.

Dena from Toast and Jam DJ’s rocks the party.

A few favorites from the “outta-the-box” photo booth.

Congrats Nancy and Erik!

Nicole & Josh are engaged!

Nicole & Josh are engaged!

What happens when the weather is perfect, it’s about an hour before sunset, and an adorable couple brings along their cute dog to an engagement photo shoot? Magic! The ingredients were just right for this photo session, and I love the results. Unfortunately I am booked for their wedding date next year (major sad face), but as a friend I knew that I HAD to take their engagement photos. They are a super cool couple, easy going and lovable, and it was awesome to capture their sweet romance with my camera. Thanks you two for an awesome afternoon, and I look forward to sharing some beers in the very near future.

Susan & Doug- Nice night for a sail

Susan & Doug- Nice night for a sail

Over the last few months I have had the pleasure of working with Jeremy Bircher of 3 line 9, dreaming up several photo+video projects. Not only is it awesome to work with someone that has the same vision, but to see the the day come to life through both video and photo is such a treat. We asked Susan and Doug if they would mind us offering both services for their wedding, and not only did they agree, but the results are great! Inspired by the work of Still Motion and several other DSLR videographers, Jeremy created a wonderful fusion video that tells the story of their day, a truly unique wedding full of all the right ingredients: love, laughter, friends, family, and lots of photographers! Jeremy and I would love to continue working together, so feel free to contact us if you would like to learn more about our combined services.

Julia + Andy= vintage love at the Morton Arboretum

Julia + Andy= vintage love at the Morton Arboretum

This wedding was great in so many ways. Not only was the weather perfect (and we were able to have the ceremony outside after all, as the sun was setting), but this couple had the perfect style and was ready to have some fun! Both Julia and Andy are artists, and they chose the wonderful Morton Arboretum as the setting for both the ceremony and reception. It was a perfect day for photos, and of course a wedding, with friends and family in terrific spirits, taking full advantage of the Magnolia photo booth (and the props) and getting down on the dance floor! I had a blast with the bridal party as we rode the limo around the grounds, picking the right spots for our photos, and Julia and Andy made the picture perfect couple. Thanks again for choosing me as your photographer, I love these photos!

The girls were determined to celebrate with a glass of wine, and it took 3 of us to get this bottle open!

The first look.

Off to the Arboretum with the bridal party for photos!

The “Steelroots” sculpture series provided us with some cool shapes and backdrops.

We couldn’t resist incorporating this funky sculpture into some of the photos.

I think this one is my favorite.

I love Andy’s design for the programs and invitations.

Andy wins the award for most excited groom!

It’s always a blast working with Magnolia photo booth.

One of the cousins was modeling Grandma’s fur wrap.

Julia’s dad gives her a twirl.

Let the party begin!

Congrats again to Julia and Andy, it was wonderful to be a part of your wedding day!

Stephanie & Chris are engaged!

Stephanie & Chris are engaged!

These two are naturals- beautiful, happy, and totally comfortable in front of the camera. We met up in Lincoln Park on a lovely Fall afternoon, spent time walking around together, even popped in to check out the penguins at the zoo on our way to the conservatory. They are both super sweet and photogenic, so it was pretty easy to capture some great shots of them. I had a really fun time with them, and look forward to their wedding next summer. Some of my favorites:

A new take on my favorite location.

Stephanie looks so amazing in this one.

Love this one!

A quick switch of hats, I don’t think Chris was happy with the trade.

Congrats you two!
