Victoria and Michael- Purrfection!

Victoria and Michael- Purrfection!

“If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me. And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles. Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.” -Led Zeppelin

One fateful night Mike walked into the dark interior of the Continental for a late night cap with some friends and met the girl of his dreams. Whether it was their shared passion for Dr. Who, Nintendo, or their three awesome cats that ultimately solidified their love, they knew the one thing they always wanted to have in common is each other. And so they got married! Both being professionals in the wedding industry gave them a unique perspective on planning all the details, and all their hard work paid off as they gathered with their closest friends and family and danced the night away. I have been so excited to share this wedding- my first experience photographing another photographer! What an awesome wedding, they are a purr-fect match and will surely take the world by storm. (WARNING: I strongly recommend having a love for cats to fully appreciate this wedding)

Dr. Who charm… best something blue!

I loved Victoria’s jewelry for the reception.

One of the bridesmaids gave me her best Lady Starck impression, “Winter is coming…”

The lovely and very talented Nika Vaughan did Victoria’s makeup.

Mom came over to take a peek…

All hands on deck.

Mike was waiting patiently in the Crimson Lounge…

The artsy stoic shot…

I love the colors in this space!

Playing around at Union Station…

Kristen from Kio Kreations did such an amazing job with the flowers.

We even snuck a “maypole” into a few photos…

It was super windy and giant waves were crashing behind them but they didn’t mind.

Then it was time to get married.

And now for some fabulous details…

Victoria and Mike commissioned these wonderful portraits of themselves by a mutual artist friend, Julia Haw. Their friend Patrick Rush created the portraits of the cats.

The feline version of Botticelli…

These figurines were placed by the cake to represent their cat family.

Jeremy took a quick break from video to pose with Mike.

Emily from Toast and Jam DJ’s was spinnin’ some mad tunes…

Congrats Victoria and Michael!

Danielle & Sona- Love in Color

Danielle & Sona- Love in Color

“You make my heart see color…” -Barcelona

Danielle and Sona are wonderful, for more than just the obvious reasons. They are adorable together, balancing the tender moments with lots of laughter. They share a strong love for animals (bunnies cats, dogs, you name it- they’ve got it!), they support each other thoroughly, and after many years together they are excited to take the next step- marriage! It is such a pleasure to be around them, and Danielle is also a super talented photographer- extra bonus for me! She had a vision for their engagement session, from the clothes to the locations, and the results are beyond cute. Although I can’t take the credit for the details, I am so pleased with these photos and could stare at them for hours. I am so flattered to be documenting these two- and I can’t wait for their wedding next month! (Check out Danielle’s amazing work: www.danielleaquilinephotography.com)

It was raining out but that didn’t stop us from visiting the Bunny Hutch for some colorful and quirky backdrops.

Etsy goodness!

Love these colors.

Everyone loves a photo booth…

Love, love, love!

Danielle and Sona made some confetti for our photo shoot…

Time for some well deserved ice cream!

Congrats Sona and Danielle!

Amy & Brandon- engaged!

Amy & Brandon- engaged!

Amy and Brandon are ultra cute- they laugh a lot, they finish each other’s sentences, they play it cool but you can tell they are totally smitten. After a beer at the very same bar where they had their first date, they were feeling more relaxed and ready for a photo session. In fact, not only are they beer enthusiasts, but Sheffield’s is also where they celebrated after Brandon proposed. We had a wonderful time strolling through Lincoln Park and then downtown along the river walk, Brandon didn’t seem to mind having a great excuse for plenty of kissing! They compliment each other well and are super fun loving, it was a pleasure spending the afternoon with these two and I can’t wait for their wedding this Fall at the Hotel Allegro!

Totally in love with this patch of flowers!

Quick stop at the MCA…

Congrats Amy and Brandon!

Jennifer & Chris- Nice guys finish first!

Jennifer & Chris- Nice guys finish first!

Not only is Chris one of the sweetest guys, but he is also persistent. When he met Jen through mutual friends she was hesitant to go out with him (she thought he was too nice!), but he kept asking. She finally agreed to come over for a home-cooked meal, and was amazed to discover Chis had mad cooking skills and was an all around terrific guy. She fell in love, they moved in together, adopted a cat, and even moved all the way to Buffalo, NY together. They have stuck by each other through thick and thin over the last few years, Chris taking care of Jen as she recovered from back surgery and Jen packing up their apartment when Chris got a job offer in NY. They couldn’t have been more happy to marry their best friend, there were tears of joy followed by some crazy dancing as we partied into the night at the Metropolitan Club, surrounded by excellent views of Chicago’s downtown. Congrats Jen and Chris, you are two of the nicest people!

Chris gave Jen a beautiful engraved locket.

Etsy is such a great resource for all things wedding.

Even Potbelly wished them well!

Roses for the bride!

Maid of Honor #1 was already getting teary eyed…

Sassy ladies!

Jen’s brother was helping Chris get ready…

Finishing touches and a little scotch.

Filling the flasks for later…

Chris was ready to see his bride.

My favorite!

It was insanely windy that day…

Hair emergency!

Then we went to the top of the city for some photos…

Even on an overcast day the sky deck is still pretty spectacular!

It was time to sign the ketubah and make it official.

The band started up right away.

Jen’s mom got up to sing with the band!

Q&A with the bride and groom:

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Jen: My Most memorable moment of the day was when I saw Chris for the first time. I had been thinking about this moment for a very long time and we had even talked about it. As I approached Chris on the glass stairs in the hotel, he had his back turned towards me. As soon as I got close to him he quickly turned around and as soon as he saw me he burst into to tears and told me how beautiful I looked. My heart was filled with such joy and I knew today was the beginning of the best journey of our lives together. It was such a special moment we shared that I will never forget it.

Chris: The most memorable part of my day was when I saw  Jen for the first time. I was nervous before then, but after I was ready to just enjoy the day.

What was your favorite detail?

Jen: My favorite detail is hard to pin point. I am extremely detail oriented and took a lot of time and effort to create a lot of details for my guests to enjoy. I later found out that they did notice many of the fun details I worked so hard to create and this made the evening even more special. I really loved my bouquet and the beautiful stones that was so delicately places on the flowers. Overall, my wedding was a magical day and I am so happy how everything turned out!

Chris: Every detail was amazing, but I particularly liked Jen’s dress, it was stunning.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Jen: My girlfriends and I always have way too much fun together which is why I love them with all my heart. While we were getting ready, four of my Bridesmaids and I decided we wanted to have some fun. We blasted some fun music and all jumped really high on the hotel bed for while! It was an absolute blast and we were all laughing hysterically! it is a memory I will never forget.

Chris: Getting ready with the guys.

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

Jen: Enjoy every minute of your wedding day! It goes so fast and try to take in any many of the memories as you can.

Chris: Relax and try to take it all in, I think it was the fastest weekend of my life.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Jen: Absolutely not! I’m so happy being a married lady and we had the best time of our lives with the most important people we love. We love all the amazing people we worked with and are so thankful for everything!!

Chris: No, I had a great time and can’t imagine anything that  could have made the day anymore special.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Jen: We are going on our honeymoon to Maui on May for and are super excited! Fun in the sun with my new husband, can’t beat it!

Chris: Maui in May! I can’t wait.
