Jaclyn and Brad- Sweet Carolina

Jaclyn and Brad- Sweet Carolina

Not only did I have the pleasure of meeting Jaclyn and Brad at a friend’s wedding last year, but it has been wonderful getting to know them. I can talk to Brad for hours about music (especially our mutual love for all things Ryan Adams), and when a Martin Sexton song came on during the reception I knew I was hooked! I feel like I have known Jaclyn for a long time- she is sweet and adorable and instantly likable. They are a great pair, and despite moving away to North Carolina (by the way,if you don’t know the amazing Ryan Adams and Emmylou Harris duet “Sweet Carolina” you should look it up!) they had their wedding at the Hotel Orrington in Evanston. Their friends and family were so thrilled to celebrate with them here in Chicago. Their wonderful wedding day was only surpassed by the way they looked at each other- a look of total love and commitment that will last a lifetime. Congrats Jaclyn and Brad!!

Jaclyn’s Maid of Honor has been her best friend and next door neighbor since she was six, wow!

One of the groomsmen was running late and got a speeding ticket….

First look!

Sorority sisters!

Party time!

Jaclyn got spun around a few times!!

I suppose it’s not a party until someone takes their pants off…

Congrats Jaclyn and Brad!!

Q&A with the bride:

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Jaclyn: I loved the moment when Brad picked me up on LaSalle Street while we were taking pictures–it felt like I was in a fairytale.  I also had butterflies while walking down the aisle at the church as I’m sure most brides do.

What was your favorite detail?

Jaclyn: I loved our ceremony programs, ribbon wands, place cards, menus, and cocktail napkins.  My favorite out of all of those were our napkins.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Jaclyn: When my friend Joey unexpectedly spun me around in circles on the dance floor.

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

Jaclyn: I would recommend going to hear your specific DJ play music before booking their company and not just another person from the same company.  We did not get a chance to do this since were are living in North Carolina.  If we had done so, we probably would have picked another DJ within the same company who could create a better dance party.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Jaclyn: I would try to relax and enjoy it more and not worry about every little detail going as planned because the day goes by in the blink of an eye.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Jaclyn: Mediterranean Cruise (Italy, Greece, Turkey) by Celebrity :)

Emily & Jack- Love in an art gallery

Emily & Jack- Love in an art gallery

Sometimes people really do have the kind of love story you see in the movies. Take Emily and Jack for instance… college friends, they dated each other’s mutual friends for many years, never noticing that something was happening all along. Then one day everything changed. They were swimming in a lake with friends and all of a sudden Emily said to Jack “I think I need to kiss you.” In that moment they realized that after all those years they had fallen in love with each other. A long distance relationship with Jack being in the military was no obstacle for these two, they knew they had to be together. And their wedding was nothing short of spectacular! Surrounded by their closest family and friends they celebrated in style, with the beautiful details only out shined by the outpouring of love and sentiment, and the beauty of this marvelous pair. Congrats Emily and Jack- may you spend the rest of your lives making time for kisses!

Emily’s note to Jack…

Gorgeous! Love this photo of Emily.

The money shot…

An all-time favorite!

If you’re considering a wedding location outside of the city, the Elmhurst Art Museum is fabulous!

These floral place cards were stunning!

Cutting the cake with a sword!

Emily changed into her adorable cocktail dress and we took some photos around the gallery.

Party time!

Grandma had some dance moves…

Sparklers make for a great exit.

Congrats Emily and Jack!

Emily: After walking me down the aisle, my father stepped on my veil and ripped it right off my head. My bridesmaids acted quickly to fix it while Jack and most of the church had a good laugh.

What was your favorite detail?
Emily: It was a tie between the miniature vases with amazing flower arrangements we used as escort cards and the end of the night sparkler send-off.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Emily: Jack and his grandma busting it out on the dance floor to Proud Mary.

Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Emily: Photobooth is a must have!!!!

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Emily: Wouldn’t change a thing!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Emily: Home!! After spending this past year apart, we are now enjoying every minute of our time together in Wilmington, NC.

Monica & Ben- Salvage One engagement

Monica & Ben- Salvage One engagement

It’s hard not to love Salvage One, in fact the interior impressed Monica and Ben so much that they chose it for their wedding location AND their engagement photos. I was like a kid in a candy store… beautiful space and a beautiful couple- pretty freakin’ perfect! Monica looked stunning, and Ben cleaned up quite nice too… he even put on a serious face for most of the photos despite his playful personality. They not only look great, but they have a wonderful comfortability with each other and a natural tenderness, all I had to do was click away. I am so glad I got to spend some time with them before their big move to Dallas, and I can’t wait for their wedding this winter.

This might be an all time favorite!

Total mad men… (we couldn’t resist a stoic shot)

Ben’s last name start’s with an S so this sign seemed very appropriate.

Secret handshake or a special pinky swear?

So pretty!

And then a little cupcake reward for all their hard work…

I think Monica expected this goofy face to make at least one appearance that day.

Congrats Monica and Ben!

Hillary and Matt- Sky Blue Sky

Hillary and Matt- Sky Blue Sky

Whether it was the warm summer days or the good music floating along the breeze, taking a job at the Ravinia a few summers ago turned out to be a very good decision. As Wilco jammed on stage there was a new love blossoming, Hillary and Matt were falling for each other. They are a terrific pair, relaxed and fun loving, funny and charming. We had a beautiful day around the North side of Chicago taking photos, we checked out some of their favorite spots, started with coffee, and even had some pie along the way. What an awesome photo session! Thank you Hillary and Matt for being so cool, and I can’t wait to celebrate your wedding with you later this year! (Special thanks to First Slice Pie for letting us take some photos inside)

We visited their old building (their first apartment together).

Love this!

Then they explored some of the wooded area…

Time for some pie! (Everyone loves pie, right?)

Hillary was contemplating whether or not she would share…

If they ever start a band together, I think this would make a great record cover.

Congrats Hillary and Matt!

Kristine + Steve- Part 2

Kristine + Steve- Part 2

I had to share a few more photos of Kristine and Steve… we met up for a second time to get a few more photos around downtown as the sun set, the results are great! Can’t wait to celebrate with these two!

I love these colors, Kristine picked out terrific outfits.

It was the perfect time of day, with all the city lights twinkling on the water.

Kristine + Steve- Love and Peppermint Lattes

Kristine + Steve- Love and Peppermint Lattes

Kristine and Steve are really special, they treasure each other immensely and the time spent with one another. It seems fitting that when Steve prepared to ask Kristine to marry him, he wanted to go above and beyond. He had been very creative with their first date, so this had to be really great… when Kristine went to her favorite coffee shop for her usual peppermint latte the barista was ready to hand her the first clue of an elaborate treasure hunt Steve had put together. But for some reason she didn’t order a peppermint latte that day, and was confused when they kept insisting she have one. Luckily she took the cup and started the hunt that lead all over the city, and she found wonderful treasure… Steve patiently waiting on one knee with a gorgeous sparkling ring! They are a beautiful couple and I was super excited to take some photos with them. We started at the movie theater for some popcorn and then made our way to the North Ave beach as the sun was setting. Congrats Kristine and Steve, I can’t wait for your wedding!

They could hardly contain their excitement!
